Searcys chief executive leaves business in shock departure

The chief executive of upmarket caterer Searcys 1847 has left the business by mutual consent.

Duncan Ackery became chief executive of Searcys in August 2007 after the acquisition of the company by De Vere owner Alternative Hotel Group.

In a statement, Searcys said Ackery had been instrumental in managing a successful transition from previous ownership but the company now needed a new leadership structure to take it to the next phase of its development.

"Therefore, by mutual consent, Duncan has stepped down with immediate effect in order to facilitate this transition.

"He is pursuing a number of new opportunities and, on behalf of the AHG partners, I want to thank him for all his hard work and endeavour, and wish him well for his future."

Searcys's contracts include catering at the landmark Gherkin building in the City, the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Opera House and law firm Allen & Overy, as well as Champagne bars at London's St Pancras and Westfield shopping centre.
