Legacy rescues two Niche hotels from administration
Legacy Hotels and Resorts has rescued two Niche hotels from administration, bringing the number of properties under its management to 11.
The company has taken on management contracts at the Royal Hotel Cardiff and the Wyck Hill House Hotel and Spa in the Cotswolds, which have both been in administration since January after being hit by falling consumer spending and the escalating costs of ongoing refurbishment.
Three-year management contracts have been agreed at the Royal Hotel, which has safeguarded 30 jobs at the 64-bedroom city centre hotel, and the 60-bedroom Wyck Hill, which has now been closed for refurbishment until the autumn.
Andy Townsend, chief executive officer of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, said he believed he could "transform the fortunes of both these hotels in the coming months".
"We are pleased to be associated with the Royal Hotel which is in a prime location in Cardiff opposite the Millennium Stadium," he said. "It has spent six months in administration but I am confident with our expertise that we can re-establish it as one of the key destination hotels within the city."
The group now has 11 hotels within its control across the UK and Jersey as well as eight associate hotels in the UK and Southern Spain.
