Private equity group Seahold has diversified into catering with the acquisition of a restaurant and a delicatessen in its native Aberdeen

The group has acquired Max’s Restaurant and Francesa’s Delicatessen in the city’s Ashdale Drive for an undisclosed sum and set up a new division, Seahold Catering, to run them.

Jennifer Stewart, who joins from a role in the energy industry but has previous hotels experience, has been recruited to head up the new venture as business unit director

Kenny MacLeod, chairman of Seahold, said: “This is the first venture for Seahold into the hospitality sector and it is a significant investment for the company.

“Westhill is a developing area with a large number of businesses locating there, including some high profile energy companies, and it is very exciting to be part of it.”

The restaurant and delicatessen are both due to be refurbished.
