The Real Greek joins FSA menu labelling scheme

The Real Greek has become the latest restaurant operator to join the Food Standards Agency's (FSA) nutritional menu labelling scheme.

The Clapham House-owned operator is introducing calorie labelling across its seven-strong estate, joining companies such as Burger King, Compass Group and Pizza Hut in the scheme.

Liz Williams, managing director at The Real Greek, said the group wanted to roll out menu labelling across its estate to emphasise it support for the initiative.

"This is not a pilot scheme," she said. "We are fully committed to delivering clear nutritional information to all our customers and we are delighted to adopt the FSA's recommendations wholesale, rather than trial the new menu in only one or two of our restaurants."

The Real Greek, which becomes the 19th operator to sign up, has undertaken full nutritional calculations for each dish on its new menu with the data available in the restaurants and on its website.

The FSA initiative was announced in January and, as of this month, there are more than 450 outlets trialling menu labelling.
