Calcot Manor buys Barnsley House from administration

The Barnsley House boutique hotel and Village Pub near Cirencester in Gloucestershire has been bought by the owners of nearby Calcot Manor for a sum thought to be in the region of £6.6m.

The 18-bedroom hotel, which was privately owned by Barnsley House, had collapsed into administration at the beginning of May, after an expansion of the hotel two years ago left the owners carrying too much debt.

It was sold through the Cirencester office of property agent Colliers Robert Barry who was acting for administrators KPMG.

Alastair Murchie, director of Colliers Robert Barry, said: "The marriage of Calcot Manor and Barnsley House, two of the Cotswolds most successful hotels, creates a formidable group that will include the Village Pub in Barnsley that was previously in the same ownership as the hotel."

The sale price has not been disclosed, but the agents had been asking £6.6m for the hotel and pub together.
