Last year's ‘The Restaurant' winners open new pub

Raymond Blanc's protégé's from last year's series of The Restaurant have opened their new property, The Cheerful Soul in the Hare & Hounds.

The winners of the BBC2 programme, Michele English and Russell Clement, have taken over the Enterprise Inns' pub in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and will be serving a seasonal menu in a relaxed atmosphere.

The 17th-century property has undergone extensive renovations in which the couple have introduced their own personality to the décor. Changes have included exposing beams and opening up areas to be filled with natural light.

During the series last year, judges praised the couple for their eagerness to learn: "All the way through they took on board what we said and implemented it, we saw nothing but improvement each week… Michele is very competent front of house and Russell is a good solid cook with a wonderful work ethic. Good luck to them, we are so pleased for them".
