Enterprise Inns sells six pubs to two companies

Enterprise Inns has sold six of its pubs to two companies in the past month.

Independent gastropub chain Food and Fuel has purchased four of Enterprise's London freeholds, while pub chain McGowan's has picked up the remaining two.

The freeholds purchased by Food and Fuel are Lots Road Pub and Dining Room in Lots Road, Chelsea; the Sporting Page, also in Chelsea; the Prince of Wales in Battersea; and the Queens Arms in Westminster.

McGowan's, which operates 15 freehold pubs, has bought two freehold operations in St Albans and Dunstable from Enterprise Inns for £500,000 each.

Food and Fuel already owns eight gastropubs and two café bars in London and the four new outlets will be managed by a new company called Bricks and Fuel with the same shareholders.

Commenting on the purchase, Karen Jones, Food and Fuel's chairman, said: "We are delighted to have bought these high-quality London freeholds. It provides a secure base for the future expansion of Food and Fuel."
