General manager of Dubai's Atlantis resort in shock departure

The general manager of Dubai's £390m Atlantis resort, located on man-made island Palm Jumeirah, has resigned from his job.

The reasons for Amadeo Zarzosa's departure has not been confirmed, although he is believed to have resigned last week for "personal" reasons, Hotelier Middle East.com reports.

The hotel, owned by luxury hotel and resort operator Kerzner International, is expected to release a statement in the next couple of days announcing Zarzosa's replacement.

The departure of the Atlantis boss, who was responsible for the pre-opening of the 1,539-bedroom property last year, comes as a shock since he had spoken of his plans for expansion at the beginning of the month.

Originally a chef with internships at the Moulin Rouge in Paris and the Savoy Hotel in London, Zarzosa joined Kerzner International in 1999 as senior vice president of operations for Atlantis, Paradise Island resort and Harbourside Resort and general manager for Coral & Beach Towers in the Bahamas.
