Nathan Green appointed head chef at the Old Bear in Cobham

The Old Bear in Cobham, Surrey, which is the sister pub to the Albion in Islington, has appointed Nathan Green as its new head chef.

After training at Birmingham's College of Food, Green spent 18 months at Gidleigh Park hotel, Devon. This was followed by a year at Tom Aikens's restaurant, and then 12 months at Thyme Bar and Bistro in Pimlico. He then joined the First Restaurant Group, where he spent a year at the Ebury in London's Belgravia, and the Waterway in Little Venice.

His next move took him to Mayfair's the Square for six months, which was quickly succeeded by six months at the Farm restaurant in Fulham. Green's most recent post has been at the Michelin-starred Arbutus restaurant, London, where he spent almost two years.

Green won Young Chef of the Year in 2004 and made the finals for the Ramsay Scholarship.
