Aramark loses Bloomberg contract to Restaurant Associates

Aramark has lost the lucrative catering contract at news service Bloomberg's London offices to Compass Group's Restaurant Associates, Caterersearch has learned.

Employees at Bloomberg's offices in the City of London were informed last week that Aramark no longer holds the multi-million pound contract and that staff will transfer under TUPE regulations to Restaurant Associates.

Aramark was reported to have won the Bloomberg deal at the Finsbury Square offices in February 2008 from rival caterer Elior's Avenance.

The contract is estimated by industry experts to be worth £2m annually in turnover.

Previously it has been operated with a heavy subsidy from the employer so that staff are able to help themselves to free refreshments and food.
