Artizian scoops prize at National Business Awards

Artizian: praised for its holistic approach to the health and well-being of its staff

Small Berkshire caterer Artizian fought off competition from bigger companies including the Admiral Group to win the Health, Work and Well Being award at this year’s National Business Awards.

More than 1,200 business leaders and guests, including keynote speaker Alistair Darling, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, attended the Orange-sponsored National Business Awards, to celebrate the success of the UK’s most innovative, ethical and resilient businesses in 2009.

In total, 17 organisations and individuals were rewarded for their contributions to business success in Britain including Scarborough’s Crown Spa hotel, which won the Health, Work and Well-being for Small Business Award.

“Artizian may operate within a sector dominated by giant contract caterers but they stand tall among them for applying a rarely seen holistic approach to the health and well-being of their staff,” said Robert Janes, chair of judges.

“Employees are truly acknowledged as being key to the success of this business. They benefit from competitive pay and numerous schemes encompassing bonuses, childcare, life assurance, personal safety, flexible holidays, free nutritional advice, health plan – the list is a long one. The judges were deeply impressed by this organisation and concluded that perhaps it was time we all adopted Artizian’s company motto to “Eat, work and enjoy everyday.”

Artizian’s managing director Alison Frith said: “The award was for an organisation that could best demonstrate how it has improved the health and well-being of its workforce to the benefit of the organisation. This achievement is considerable and a true reflection of the commitment and belief that is held by our team players within Artizian.”

The eighth National Business Awards took place at London's Grosvenor House hotel, Park Lane and the host was journalist and TV presenter Kirsty Wark.
