Malmaison Group staff walk to raise £100,000-plus for cancer charity
Twenty-nine Hotel du Vin and Malmaison staff have walked 94 miles across the West Highland Way to raise over £100,000 for the Elizabeth Montgomery Foundation.
The team was made up of general managers, regional directors and the CEO Robert Cook spent five days walking the gruelling 94 miles along the West Highland Way which runs Milngavie near Glasgow to Fort William.
Cook said: "There were lots of blisters, damaged knees and shin splints so it was an outstanding achievement for all of us. The weather was challenging but there was great camaraderie and it was an excellent teambuilding exercise just before the Christmas rush as well as making good the company's commitment to our CSR which we firmly believe in."
Colin Montgomerie, who set up the foundation in memory of his late mother said: "The commitment from the Hotel du Vin and Malmaison Group has been tremendous and will help us to reach our target to support as many people affected by cancer as we can. The Foundation is very important to me and my family and we were proud to be walking the first leg with Robert and his colleagues."
The hotel group has now surpassed its £100,000 target for the year and has set its sights on raising £200,000 for the cancer charity by the end of April.
