Charlton House wins catering contract at London Mayor's residence

Charlton House has been awarded a prestigious three-year contract to provide catering at Mansion House, the private residence of the Lord Mayor of London and his family.

The contract caterer declined to reveal the contract value, but the last time it was let - to Searcy's in 2005 - it was worth between £1.3m and £1.5m a year.

Charlton House will cater for its first Mayoral Banquet just 10 days into the new deal, which will begin 1 February.

Alison Tyler, managing director of the independent caterer, said: "Having made the strategic decision in 2007 to enter the highly competitive City of London livery sector, this achievement is far beyond our expectations. We could never have imagined at that time winning such a prestigious contract so soon."

The contract has in the past been run by upmarket caterer Chester Boyd, which was bought by Charlton House in May 2007.

Mansion House hosts numerous charity and livery occasions, most notably the Mayoral Banquets which take place up to once a month, and it receives around 40,000 visitors every year.

As well as official events and daily business meetings, Charlton House will provide private catering services to the Lord Mayor, Lady Mayoress and family.
