Giorgio Armani will open his first hotels this year, in Dubai and Milan

Fashion designer Giorgio Armani will launch his first hotel in the Burj Dubai tower, the world’s tallest building.

The official inauguration of the 818m-high tower was today (Monday), though the landmark building’s offices, flats and hotel will not be completed until March 2010.

The Armani Hotel Dubai is the first of a series of hotels and resorts to be developed by Armani in collaboration with Emaar Properties. With 160 bedrooms and suites, a spa, two restaurants and a nightclub, it will occupy the first eight floors plus levels 38 and 39 of the 169 storey building, which is 2,625 feet high.

A second Armani hotel will open in Milan later in the year, with the first resort planned for Marrakech.

Armani would like to open further hotels in New York, London, Tokyo and Shanghai.
