Locals attack Punch pub staging topless foam wrestling
Punch Taverns has opened an investigation after enraged locals attacked a Lytham St Annes pub for staging "topless foam wrestling".
The Victoria on Church Road, could also face action from Fylde licensing chiefs after the one-off event at the weekend, according to local paper the Lytham St Annes Express.
The event was reportedly policed by doormen to prevent young children entering but diners sitting in the main lounge of the hotel complained.
The local council said that although the pub did not need apply for a special licence but should have made it clear that adult entertainment would be staged when making its original licence application and an investigation is now underway.
A Punch taverns spokesperson told the paper: "As a responsible operator, we do not condone or host events of this nature and we are currently conducting an investigation to find out why this event was allowed to go ahead. The general manager of the Victoria Hotel would like to apologise unreservedly for any offence caused."
