Belgian restaurateur family to make UK debut in London

A father and daughter team from Belgium is set to make its debut on the London restaurant scene, with the launch of a brasserie in west London.

Luc and Julie van Oostende have taken over the site formerly occupied by Eat & Two Veg on Marylebone High Street and plan to relaunch it in June.

Luc van Oostende owns a string of restaurants in Belgium including his flagship Café Theatre in Ghent. He was also one of the founding members of café and bakery chain Le Pain Quotidien.

The yet-to-be-named London restaurant will be overseen by Julie van Oostende, whose industry experience encompasses stints at hotels in New York and London including the Hoxton Hotel.

The restaurant will include a bar area serving a short list of classic cocktails and bar snacks as well as a main dining room offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Property agent Shelley Sandzer handled the deal. Agent Nick Weir said the group had been looking for a central London restaurant for the duo for more than a year.

"When 50 Marylebone High Street came up as a potential opportunity they beat off stiff competition to agree terms," he said.
