Nando's scoops three stars in the Best Companies Accreditation 2010 scheme

Chicken restaurant chain Nando's is the only hospitality company to be awarded three stars in the Best Companies Accreditation 2010 scheme.

Cavendish hotel, London; Inventive Leisure, which operates 57 cocktail bars, night clubs and restaurants throughout the UK, and People 1st, the sector skills council for the hospitality industry - with eight companies receiving one star.

A total of 1086 organisations across all industries applied to achieve star status, which is a 37% increase on applications in 2009. From these companies, more than 276,000 employees were surveyed to ascertain how supported, cared for and valued they feel as staff.

It is the second year that Nando's, which has 220 outlets nationwide, has been awarded three stars.

David Niven, managing director of Nando's said that it is great to know that even during an economic downturn, thousands of people feel the company is still a great place to work.

"Everyone at Nando's does a fantastic job of helping to keep that special Nando's culture alive," he said.

Ciaran Fahy, managing director at the Cavendish, said the two star award was an amazing achievement for the four star hotel which has invested over 900 hours in staff service training over the past year.

"We are a very close team and have been working extremely hard to develop, train, engage and retain our wonderful staff," he said.

"Having happy employees is essential to the quality of service that we provide our guests. Showing them we care about them ensures they deliver caring service to our guests."
