Hilton hotels undergo £20m refurbishment programme
A £20m refurbishment programme across 16 of Hilton Worldwide's UK properties includes the launch of a new lounge concept called The Space.
Due to open first at Hilton Newbury North in March 2010, The Space will replace the traditional restaurant, lounge and bar area with an airport executive lounge-style area across the entire ground floor of the hotel.
Work on the refurbishments - to include the bedrooms - is due to be completed by 2011. All the hotels are owned by private investor Igal Ahouvi and partners.
"As hoteliers, our focus is on delivering exceptional guest experiences, and we are thrilled that Mr Ahouvi is helping us achieve that goal with this investment programme," said area president of Europe for Hilton Worldwide, Simon Vincent.
"It will radically improve the quality of the hotel, and in the new lounge concept, we're demonstrating innovation aimed at enhancing the guest experience."
The hotels to undergo refurbishments include the Hilton London Gatwick Airport; Hilton London Olympia; Hilton Aberdeen; Hilton Dunkeld; Hilton Strathclyde; Hilton Basinstoke; Hilton Bristol; Hilton Bromsgrove; Hilton Coventry; Hilton Dartford; Hilton Newbury Centre; Hilton Newbury North; Hilton Newport; Hilton Southampton; Hilton Swindon and Hilton Edinburgh Airport.
