Macdonald Hotels opens new property in Windsor

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts have announced the opening of a new 120-bedroom hotel in Windsor.

The Macdonald Windsor hotel, a contemporary townhouse in the centre of the town, is to be developed on the site of the former Caley's department store, which was originally owned by the John Lewis Partnership.

While some of the store has been demolished, around 25% of the hotel will sit within the original grade II listed building and will retain some of its original features.

"As we approach our 20th anniversary, 2010 will see the group continue to invest in it portfolio with renewed vigour as the economy strengthens," said David Guile, chief executive of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.

The hotel, which is due to open in August 2010, will become the 46th hotel within Macdonald's portfolio of 46 hotels and 10 resorts throughout the UK and Spain.
