Weekly hotel revpar rises by 10.6% in London

Hotel revenue per available room (revpar) rose by 10.6% in London but fell by 1% across the regions in the week ending 20 February 2010, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global.

Revpar at London hotels increased to £101.52, up from £91.79 in the equivalent week of 2009. Occupancy grew by 4.4 percentage points, to 82.4%, while average room climbed by 4.7% to £123.16.

In the same week, regional revpar declined to £41.88 (2009: £42.29). Occupancy rose by 1.4 percentage point (to 66.6%) but average room rate decreased by 3.1% to £62.87.

Manchester hotels, however, saw revpar slip by 7.6% to £46.55 (2009: £50.38) thanks to a 2.6 percentage point fall in occupancy (to 69.8%) and a 4.1% decrease in average room rate to £66.74.

Hotel revpar for the 28 days to 20 February grew by 9.7% in London (to £96.39) but dropped by 1% in the provinces, to £41.44. In Manchester, revpar rose marginally by 1%, to £48.68, over the same period.
