Sheffield Hallam University students are 2010 Young Guns winners
Two students from Sheffield Hallam University have won the Catering & Hospitality Forum's Young Guns final.
William Harper and Andrew Swinscoe came out ahead of the eight other competitors at this year's final, which took place at Westminster Kingsway College. Their prize will be to attend the Catering & Hospitality Forum at Whittlebury Hall.
The competition recognises students who have excelled in their work placements as part of their degree course.
Jonathan Raggett, managing director at Red Carnation Hotels, said: "Anyone who talks about talent not coming into our industry should have been there to see a fantastic group of students. I'd like to see all of them working for, and eventually managing, a property within the Red Carnation portfolio."
Rupert Clevely, chief executive officer at Geromimo Inns said: "I was so delighted to meet such a stunning group of young qualified, capable and very enthusiastic people. It makes me very excited for the future of our industry."
The finalists were:
- Jennie Russell, Sheffield Hallam
- Will Harper, Sheffield Hallam
- Andrew Swinscoe, Sheffield Hallam
- Petrina Johnson, Birmingham
- Emily Beach, Oxford Brookes
- Joanne Brosnan, Oxford Brookes
- Peter Murray, Oxford Brookes
- Chris Deane, Bournemouth
