Carluccio's enjoys good start to the financial year
Italian restaurant chain Carluccio's has had a good start to the financial year and expects to report a moderate increase in profits for the first six months.
The company reported strong trading in the first half of the financial year and said that turnover for the 26 weeks to 28 March was up 8% compared with last year.
Carluccio's said its new restaurant of the financial year in Exeter, Devon; Wimbledon, London; and Cardiff have traded well, exceeding board expectations.
The group said it was on track to achieve its minimum five store opening target with the next opening expected to be in Milton Keynes in the early summer bringing the group's portfolio to 45 outlets.
Carluccio's added that Landmark, its Middle Eastern franchisee, has opened its second restaurant in Dubai, with a third outlet set to open next month and a fourth site scheduled for the autumn.
Meanwhile its Irish franchisee, which closed its restaurant in Dublin in February, has reopened the outlet following successful negotiations.
