Brakspear restructures board after chief executive announces retirement

Brakspear chief executive Don Bridgman is to retire in September after six years at the helm.

Bridgman will be replaced by the company's commercial director Tom Davies.

The move has prompted a board-level restructure at the company, which operates 145 pubs.

Finance director and company secretary Jim Hill is to leave the firm with immediate effect after 33 years with the company. Bridgman will take over the finance function until another finance director is appointed.

Meanwhile property director Tony Verey is retiring from the board at the end of April after 24 years but will continue to work at the company for another year, overseeing its property development programme.

And former J T Davies & Sons managing director Martin Challis, is to join the board from May.

Brakspear chairman Michael Davies said: "We value greatly the contributions made by our departing colleagues. Their hard work and commitment to the business over several decades have helped to put Brakspear in a very strong position to achieve further growth, despite the challenges that all pub operators continue to face."
