Weekly hotel revpar rises by 13.6% in London and by 4.7% in regions
Hotel revenue per available room (revpar) rose by 13.6% in London and by 4.7% across the regions in the week ending 27 March 2010, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global.
Revpar at London hotels increased to £110.76, up from £97.54 in the equivalent week of 2009. Occupancy grew by 4.6 percentage points, to 86.4%, while average room climbed by 7.4% to £128.14.
In the same week, regional revpar climbed to £45.39 (2009: £43.37). Occupancy rose by 5.1 percentage points (to 69.9%) but average room rate declined by 3% to £64.91.
Cardiff hotels underperformed against the regional average. Revpar in the Welsh city slumped by 19.4% to £40.05 (2009: £49.71) on the back of a 9.7 percentage point drop in occupancy (to 65.9%) and a 7.7% decrease in average room rate to £60.73.
Hotel revpar for the 28 days to 27 March grew by 12.9% in London (to £103.11) and by 1.1% in the provinces, to £43.55. In Cardiff, revpar dropped by 9.5% to £43.61 over the same period.
