Election 2010: gauging political partisanship through chocolates and cocktails

The Arch, near Marble Arch, has been gauging political partisanship through a more novel offering - éclairs.

Created by pastry chef Thomas Fueher the éclairs represent the three main party leaders, each of which is being illustrated in edible ink by caricaturist Steven Lee.

Gordon Brown comes in two flavours: sun-dried tomato and goats' cheese or rose with raspberry and Champagne; David Cameron is represented by blue cheese and pear or blueberry and coconut; while Nick Clegg is stuffed with either yellowfin tuna, coriander and chilli or grapefruit and Champagne.

At nearby Brown's Hotel in Mayfair, the election results can be watched as they are announced on large television screens which will be erected in the Donovan Bar and the English Tea Room.

From 10pm until the early hours, guests can enjoy a selection of political cocktails - Champagne Socialist, Maggie-rita, Libertini, Hung(over) Parliament and Floating Voter - accompanied by with a range of snacks intended to keep up energy levels including Eggs Benedict, Brown's burger trio, De Beauvoir smoked salmon "Hix cure" with scrambled eggs and pork crackling with Bramley apple sauce.
