Six Hats South African Fairtrade wines from Off-Piste Wines

A Sauvignon Blanc 2009 voted the Best Fairtrade South African Wine and the Best Overall Fairtrade White Wine at 2009 Fairtrade Tastings makes up one-quarter of the new Six Hats line of South African Fairtrade wines from Citrusdal Wines.

A partnership between Fairtrade farmers, Charles Back and UK marketer Mike Paul, Six Hats is a range of single varietals from the Olifants River region of Western Cape.

The Sauvignon Blanc offers a crisp, green fruit to the nose and a mineral green fruit to the palate. A Shiraz 2009 has an aroma of ripe black fruits, pepper and spice and a flavour of juicy red fruit with a hint of vanilla; a medium-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon tastes of ripe blackcurrant, plums with hints of dark mint chocolate; and a rounded Chardonnay 2009 delivers a rich red apple aroma and juicy fruit flavours.
