Hospitality Action asks every industry worker to raise £5 for Hospitality Action Week 2010

Hospitality Action is calling on all industry workers to find their inner Action Hero for the charity event of the year, Hospitality Action Week.

The fundraising week runs from 17-23 May to raise vital money to care for hospitality workers who have fallen on hard times. This year, Hospitality Action is asking everyone who works in the industry to raise at least £5.

Penny Moore, chief executive officer at Hospitality Action, said, "Just think about how much good work we could do if every person in the two-million-strong workforce raised just £5. Hospitality Action Week is a fantastic opportunity to bring employees together and celebrate the industry in which we work."

Last year's event raised over £100,000 through an array of activities from themed lunches, football matches and doughnut eating competitions right through to a sponsored 3663 team meeting held at the top of Scaffell Pike.

Susie Wadsworth, assistant human resources manager at London's Royal Garden hotel commented on last year's event: "We had great fun with our various fundraising activities from a marshmallow eating competition, to a raffle to win theatre tickets, not to mention our photo competition. We're great supporters of HA; they've always been very supportive of our employees, both past and present."

Entering the charity's Big Prize Draw is just one simple way you can help raise £5 and be in with a chance of winning the spectacular first prize of a five-star trip for two to New York.

In addition, top British chefs have donated recipes to help with fundraising for Hospitality Action Week.

Great British Menu star Nathan Outlaw, chef-proprietor of Restaurant Nathan Outlaw at the St Enodoc hotel in Rock, Cornwall; Andrew Fairlie of Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles in Auchterarder; Martin Burge, head chef of Whatley Manor in Malmesbury, Wiltshire; and current Knorr National Chef of the Year, Simon Hulstone of the Elephant in Torquay have all donated recipes to encourage restaurants across the country to get behind the campaign.
