Good Food Guide readers vote the Swan at Southrop as Restaurant of the Year

The Swan at Southrop in Gloucestershire has won the Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year award.

The restaurant beat nine other regional finalists to scoop the award, which was presented to proprietors Sebastian and Lana Snow at an awards ceremony held at the British Museum earlier today.

The Good Food Guide‘s consultant editor, Elizabeth Carter, said: "We've been searching for a culinary gem that goes the extra mile for its customers and the Swan at Southrop exceeded our expectations.

"As well as the careful sourcing of local raw materials and quality cooking from Sebastian Snow, the friendly service and value for money make it the kind of place we all want at the end of our street."

Sebastian Snow said he and his wife were delighted to have won the award in the restaurant's second year of trading. "Needless to say we owe this to the hard work of all our staff, and the loyalty of the customers who have supported us in the 20 months since we first opened," he said.

More than 25,000 diners nominated their favourite restaurants, pubs and cafés in this year's Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year award.

The other finalists were:

Wales: Slice, Swansea
East England: Wiveton Bell, Norfolk
London: The French Table, Surbiton
Midlands: Saffron, Birmingham
Northern Ireland: Ginger Bistro, Belfast
North-west: Northcote, Lancashire
North-east: Artisan, Hessle
Scotland: La Garrigue, Edinburgh
South-east: Vanilla Pod, Marlow
