Anthony Lee steps down as The Connaught's GM

Anthony Lee, general manager of The Connaught since 2002, has left the hotel, Caterersearch can reveal.

Lee had worked at the iconic London hotel for more than 30 years, working his way up the career ladder until his reached the hotel's top job, replacing his predecessor, Duncan Palmer.

While his officially leaving date in 31 May, it is understood that he has already left the hotel, which is owned by the Maybourne Hotel Group.

Lee recently steered the five-star, 123-bedroom hotel through a lengthy closure whilst undergoing a major refurbishment. He has overseen the installation of French Michelin-starred chef Helene Darozze into the hotel's restaurant previously occupied by Angela Hartnett.

A spokesperson for The Connaught said that having seen the hotel though its successful restoration and re-opening, Lee has decided that now is a good time to look at new opportunities.

A replacement for Lee is yet to be made.
