Marie-Laure Akdag becomes hotel manager of 45 Park Lane

Dorchester Collection has appointed Marie-Laure Akdag as hotel manager of its new London hotel, 45 Park Lane, which is the ninth in the collection and due to open in January 2011.

Akdag is set to join on 28 June and will report to the Dorchester's general manager and regional director UK, Roland Fasel.

Prior to joining 45 Park Lane, Akdag was director of business development and marketing for the Burj Al Arab in Dubai for three years.

Other executive positions took her across Europe and the USA, including director of sales and marketing roles for the Amstel Intercontinental and the Grand Sofitel Demeure in Amsterdam, and the Hotel de Crillon in Paris.

French born and married with an 8-year-old daughter, she holds a master's degree from France, and graduate management and marketing degrees from Cornell University and Berkeley University in America.

The new 45 Park Lane will have 46 rooms and suites, all with a view of Hyde Park; a screening room; bar and restaurant. It will sit only yards away from its sister hotel, the Dorchester, although it is expected to be more contemporary in both style and format, with designer Thierry Despont appointed to work on the interiors.

Commenting on the appointment, Fasel, said; "With more than a decade's experience serving the world's most elite markets, Marie-Laure is perfectly positioned to understand and welcome the high calibre of guest that will wish to stay at 45 Park Lane."
