Student entries invited for Heinz Tomato Ketchup Cook-Off

Heinz is inviting catering students to enter the Heinz Tomato Ketchup Cook-Off competition, set up in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs and City & Guilds.

The challenge is specifically directed at full time catering students aged between 17-23 who are in their second year of college or above. To enter students must create a recipe for both a starter and a main course using Heinz Tomato Ketchup as a key ingredient. One should be a classic dish with a twist and the other an original and innovative contemporary dish.

The closing date for entries is 30th November 2010, after which time 10 finalists will be selected to take part in a cook-off on Wednesday 13th January 2011 at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>

SheffieldCollege](http://www.sheffcol.ac.uk/)where they will have 1 hour 30 minutes to produce four covers of each course. The panel of judges will select an overall champion based on use of Heinz Tomato Ketchup, originality of recipe and practicality when reproduced in a commercial kitchen, presentation, culinary skills, working methods and overall balance. The overall winner will receive £2,000 cash and the chance to compete in a high profile competition with the Craft Guild of Chefs plus a year's free membership to the chef's association. In addition, the winner's college will receive £1,000 towards training facilities, whilst the lecturer of the winning student receives £100 of [Russums](http://www.russums-shop.co.uk/) vouchers. Second and third place runners-up will win £500 and £250 worth of Russums vouchers respectively, and a year's membership to the Craft Guild of Chefs.
