Redstones boutique hotel sold in Glasgow

The 12-bedroom Redstone boutique hotel in Glasgow has been sold for an undisclosed sum, off a guide price of £1.5m.

Restaurateur Abdul Sattar, who owns Café India and the City Merchant restaurant in the city, has bought the property.

Set in large grounds in the Uddingston area of Glasgow, the hotel includes a restaurant, which has recently been closed, as well as a bar, 20-seat conservatory and 40-cover outside seating area.

The hotel was sold by Robert Barclay and Bryan Jackson of PKF, joint receivers of the Morris Inns Group, the Lanarkshire-based family business that bought the property in 1998. It has been substantially refurbished in recent years.

Robert Pew, who has previously worked at Redstones and until recently was employed by the G1 Group in Glasgow, has been appointed general manager of the hotel.

Sattar said Pew will lead the staff from the kitchen, from where his passion and talent for cooking will take the hotel into a new era. "In particular, he will introduce new menus and wines and reopen the à la carte restaurant as soon as possible."

Christie + Co handled the sale of the property.
