Hakkasan to open second London site in Mayfair
Hakkasan, the Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant, is set to open a second London site in Mayfair this autumn.
The move follows the Abu Dhabi investment company Tasameem's £30m takeover of the Hakkasan Group, which also includes the Michelin-starred Yauatcha, to help fund overseas expansion. This has seen Hakkasan make its US debut at the Fontainebleau resort hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, last year and open at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi this year. A further restaurant is also planned for Mumbai, India.
Set to launch in November, Hakkasan Mayfair will be located on Bruton Street offering the same modern Cantonese cuisine as the original restaurant on Hanway Place.
The restaurant will be spread over two floors including a 145-seat dining room in the basement with private dining facilities as well as a 75-seat ground floor lounge bar. Interiors will be developed by Paris-based designer Guillaume Richard.
The kitchen will be overseen by executive head chef Tong Chee Hwee who has been responsible for Hakkasan's menus since its inception. !]()

Hakkasan was founded by restaurateur Alan Yau in 2001 and won a Michelin star in 2003. Yau sold the business to Tasameem, a property arm of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, in January 2008 but remains a shareholder.
