Young chefs sought for UK-NZ Culinary Challenge

Entries are now being sought for the annual UK-NZ Culinary Challenge, with an all-expense paid working trip to New Zealand up for grabs for the wining chef.

Organised by the Craft Guild of Chefs and NZ-UK Foundation, the winner of the competition will enjoy a three-week tour working in the country's best restaurants and lodges.

Taking place at London's Westminster Kingsway College on Monday 15 November 2010, the Culinary Challenge is open to young UK chefs who are keen to show off their culinary talents by designing a three-course gourmet menu.

Eight finalists will then go into a cook-off on the day and be judged by a panel including the founder of the competition Peter Gordon, chef-proprietor of Providores and Tapa Room restaurant.

The winner will be announced that evening at an official awards ceremony, hosted by the New Zealand high commissioner in the Penthouse Suite of New Zealand House, London.

Entries for the competition need to be submitted by 1 October 2010, and chefs entering the competition must be aged between 18 and 23 years old as of 1 December 2010, and be in training or employment with a British passport.
