Bartlett Mitchell launches Wheel-free Wednesdays

Independent contract caterer Bartlett Mitchell has announced plans to launch Wheel-free Wednesdays, a campaign to reduce the number of weekly deliveries to its sites as part of its sustainability programme.

Bartlett Mitchell will also ask its teams and customers to take part by walking to work, taking public transport or cycling, and delivery schedules will be changed to reduce the number of deliveries made to client sites.

The campaign is being launched, in conjunction with supplier 3663, in around 50 Bartlett Mitchell sites, with the aim of reaching around 15,000 customers. It will include all suppliers who maintain regular deliveries to the company.

David James, creative director at Bartlett Mitchell, said: "We can't underestimate the impact that a business has on the environment.

"Our collaboration with 3663 and the rest of our supplier base will allow us to consolidate deliveries and target a decrease in our carbon emissions by at least 25% over the next year by simply reducing the number of deliveries at site level by at least one per week. They are working very closely with our operations team to bring this programme to life."

David James explains the campaign:
