Tri HotStats: monthly European hotel figures
Soccer cup finals boosted the profitability of hotels in Madrid and Hamburg during May 2010, according to the latest monthly survey of 10 European countries by Tri Hospitality Consulting.
Paris achieved the second-highest increase in goppar, which grew by 51.3%, but London's 7.4% growth kept it at the top of the profitability league.
However, the UK capital was knocked into third place in terms of revenue per available room by premium-rated Rome and Paris,
While all countries surveyed except for Hamburg and London increased occupancy levels in May, average room rate declined in half of the surveyed cities - Budapest, Prague, Rome, Vienna and Warsaw.
