Team behind Terroirs to launch second London restaurant

The team behind London restaurant and wine bar Terroirs is to launch a second venture, with the opening of a new site in east London this autumn.

Located on Columbia Road, the new restaurant, which is set to open in November, will be called Brawn, named after the traditional English dish of potted pig's head.

The 70-seat restaurant, which will be set in the centre of the Columbia Road Flower Market, will have a focus on biodynamic wines and a menu similar to Terroirs with English, French and Mediterranean influences.

Chef-proprietor Ed Wilson, who is launching the new site together with business partners Eric Narioo and Oli Barker, will oversee the food offer at both restaurants, with head chef Owen Kenworthy managing the day-to-day running of the kitchen at Brawn. Barker will oversee the front of house.

Housed in a former warehouse, interiors at Brawn will feature large windows and exposed brickwork walls showcasing the work of local artists.

Wilson told Caterersearch.com that the new site would be a neighbourhood restaurant and "not another Terroirs".

"We want to fit into the east London area and be a neighbourhood restaurant that people will hopefully also travel a bit further to visit," he said.

"We don't want to be branded as a restaurant that serves a specific type of cuisine and although the name Brawn is very English it has cousins across Europe such as fromage de tête in France."

Wilson opened Terroirs on William IV Street in Covent Garden in November 2008. He was previously head chef at Sonny's in Barnes and also worked with Chris Galvin at The Wolseley.
