St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London set to launch after £150m renovation

The restoration of one of London's most iconic railway hotels will be completed with the opening of the St Pancras Renaisssance Hotel London in May 2011.

Following a £150m renovation, the 245-bedroom hotel is expected to preserve the glamour of the old station and the romance of train travel in 1873, the year it launched as the Midland Grand Hotel. Its opening will mark the completion of the regeneration of St Pancras International Station, now the home of Eurostar.

The work is being carried out by the Manhatten Loft Corporation in conjunction with London & Continental Railways.

Guests can relive the Victorian era at either the Booking Office Bar & Restaurant, recreated in the original ticket office, or the celebrity chef restaurant and bar, which will occupy the former entrance hall and coffee room.

The hotel, which will official open on 5 May 2011, will also have a 350-capacity ballroom, a private club, barber's shop, spa with seven treatment rooms and swimming pool.

Tina Edmundson, senior vice-president of lifestyle brands for Marriott International, said that the company's Renaissance brand was all about discovery and unique experiences.

"With its fascinating history and dramatic architecture, I cannot imagine a property that captivates the imagination more than St Pancras and we are thrilled to welcome it in to the Renaissance family," she said.

"The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London will no doubt become a flagship for the Renaissance brand, not only in Europe but around the world."

Renaissance Hotels is Marriott International's upscale brand with more than 140 properties in 28 countries including the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington DC and the Shelbourne Renaissance Dublin Hotel.
