London Marriott saves energy costs

The four-star, 240-bedroom London Marriott Marble Arch hotel is on course to make more than £56,000 savings per annum in energy costs.

Having already achieved a 7.3% reduction in carbon dioxide, the hotel was selected by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers for a further energy assessment. The results showed that the hotel could stand to reduce emissions by a further 16% through a number of short- and medium-term measures including the installation of variable speed control for machinery in the kitchen and foyer, as well as the use of automatic lighting systems in the gym, restaurants and offices.
