Catermasters strengthens its corporate social responsibility policy

Catermasters has announced plans to introduce four new initiatives to strengthen its corporate social responsibility policy.

The Leamington-based company will have a Fairtrade snack stand on each of its sites; work with clients to become more water-, gas- and electricity-efficient; and embrace sustainable farming by ensuring all suppliers support future food stocks, from January next year.

Catermasters also aims to reduce food waste by working with recycling companies and introducing composters and wormeries into its sites.

The new initiatives follow a move to switch its eggs to free range from 1 September on all of its sites, where previously they were used at 60% of Catermasters units.

Joint managing director Richard Moody said: "A strong CSR policy is becoming increasingly important to both us and our clients and we want to make sure we're doing all we possibly can."

The company currently uses local and seasonal produce from local suppliers, offers bottle and can recycling schemes, and uses biodegradable packaging and unbleached napkins.
