McDonald's like-for-like sales up 4.9% in Europe

Fast food chain McDonald's has reported a 4.9% increase in like-for-like sales in Europe in September thanks in part to longer operating hours.

US like-for-like sales in the period were up 5.7%, while global like-for-likes climbed 6.2%.

Meanwhile worldwide sales rose 4.3% to $6.3b (£4b).

Same store sales are now expected to climb by between 5% and 6% in October.
