Premier Inn secures site in London's West End

Premier Inn, the UK's biggest budget hotel chain, is to open a new 84-bedroom hotel in London's Leicester Square.

The acquisition of the former Queen's Hotel from Soho Estates and its restoration involves an investment of around £6m. Due to open in spring 2012, the new Premier Inn is expected to create some 40 jobs.

The property, which dates back to 1897 and has an elaborately ornamented French Renaissance exterior, is located on the north side of Leicester Square, next to the Empire Cinema. It is currently home to a number of operators, including a casino, restaurant and the nightclub Ruby Blue, all of which will remain.

Agent Cropper & Co represented Premier in the acquisition.

Premier Inn currently has more than 580 hotels with over 42,000 bedrooms in the UK and Ireland.
