Second installment of Levy Restaurants housed at Chelsea FC

Chelsea Football Club has become home to Compass Group's second installment of its Levy Restaurants brand in the UK.

The first UK example of Levy's was launched at the O2 in June 2007 and a further six sites are currently under consideration, but the ultimate aim of Compass Group, following full client consultation, is to roll out the concept to all venues within its sport and leisure portfolio.

Levy Restaurants has been a hugely successful element of the Compass empire in the US since the world's largest food and beverage provider acquired a minority interest in the Chicago-based firm for $87m (£49m) in September 2000. Levy operated a chain of 21 restaurants and sites at 58 US stadiums, convention centres and arenas at the time including iconic venues Wrigley Field in Chicago and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Six years later, Compass paid $250m (£141m) to purchase the remaining 51% stake which it didn't already own. Levy's annual contract revenues had increased from $200m (£113m) to $560m (£317m) in that period, according to a statement released by Compass at the time.

In a statement, Compass said the key focus of Levy Restaurants was on "improving and enhancing the customer experience through the further development of the skills of our teams and by really instilling a great passion for food within them."
