Russ Hill becomes Britannia Hotels' third Gatwick property
The 130-bedroom Russ Hill hotel, near Gatwick Airport, has been bought out of administration by Britannia Hotels, the UK's largest privately owned hotel group, for an undisclosed sum.
Previously owned by Spring Park Hotels prior to going into administration, the property in Charlwood, Surrey, will now undergo a complete refurbishment of the bedrooms, conference and banqueting facilities, bar and restaurant.
The hotel joins two other Gatwick hotels owned by Britannia Hotels, the 211-bedroom Europa Gatwick Hotel and the 32-bedroom Gatwick Lodge.
Headed by chief executive Alex Langsam, the company now owns 36 hotels comprising more than 7,000 bedrooms across the UK, including the Britannia in Manchester and the Adelphi in Liverpool.
Philip Gibson, a partner at Edward Symmons Hospitality & Leisure, the agent which sold the hotel, said there was significant interest in Russ Hill. "Gatwick remains an important strategic location for hotel operators and Russ Hill is a good fit in the Britannia portfolio."
