London events boat Dixie Queen up for sale for £2.6m

Britains's largest conference and events boat, the Thames-based Dixie Queen, is up for sale at £2.6m.

The boat, owned by Thames Luxury Charters, came from Sweden to the Thames in early 2000 and is a replica of a 19th century Mississippi paddle steamer.

It is large enough to require Tower Bridge to be raised when it passes and is licensed for 675 people when cruising and 1,000 when moored.

There are two bar and dining areas; one seating 318 and another 170, plus external deck areas. It also has a fully-equipped commercial kitchen.

The Dixie Queen is currently moored at Butlers Wharf Pier, adjacent to Tower Bridge, in central London.

Katie Wallace of Christie + Co's London bars and restaurants team said: "The Dixie Queen is an iconic boat, which provides excellent facilities for dining and events. We expect interest from existing cruise businesses, plus bar and restaurant operators based in the UK and overseas. We believe the Dixie Queen will generate a high level of interest from a number of ‘captains' looking to drop anchor on this unique opportunity."
