Jongleurs strikes Clubcard deal with Tesco

Comedy chain Jongleurs has struck a deal with Tesco, which will allow customers to use their Clubcard points against reward tokens for tickets to any of the 11 Jongleurs clubs.

Managing director David Elphick, who was appointed in October by the brand's founder Maria Kempinska, made the announcement as he looked back on a turbulent year for the company.

Kempinska took the name back from Regent Inns in 2009 after the company went into administration. Jongleurs has since expanded its seven sites to 11 with a deal with nightclub firm Luminar to open venues in Leeds, Norwich, Cardiff and Newcastle. And it has also secured £2m for expansion from investment firm Ingenious.

Elphick said: "It's great to be partnering alongside a brand like Tesco. At Jongleurs we are working hard to stay at the forefront of the UK comedy scene, bringing in the best acts around to some fantastic venues. This latest announcement is one in a long line of innovations that we've been working on to ensure the public has increased access to both our venues and comedians, including the introduction of Jongleurs ‘On The Road', where leisure operators can enlist the help of Jongleurs to bring comedy nights to their venues and enjoy substantial additional incomes."

Jongleurs has started negotiations on the potential purchase of a flagship London venue in the heart of the West End.
