Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles remains Scotland's only two Michelin star while Summer Isles loses star status

In a year when the Michelin Guide in Scotland has remained relatively unchanged, an omission is the most remarkable amendment.

Summer Isles Hotel has lost the star it held for 12 years. The hotel, which was named Scottish Hotel of the Year in 2006, trades for six months a year. It is situated in the far north west of Scotland in Achiltibuie, Ross-shire, with views towards the Hebrides.

The 30-seat restaurant is run by head chef Chris Firth Bernard, who joined in 1996.

Scotland's only two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, has retained its status, while 14 establishments, including 21212 in Edinburgh and the Peat Inn in Fife, have maintained their one-star awards.

Tom Kitchin, who already holds a Michelin star for The Kitchin, Edinburgh, has seen his latest venture Castle Terrace named a rising star. His second Edinburgh restaurant, it opened last July.
