New category for Considerate Hotel Awards
Hotels which have introduced innovative green marketing initiatives are invited to enter a new category in the Considerate Hotel of the Year Awards 2010/11.
The Best Green Marketing Initiative is to be added to the six other categories in the annual awards, which is open to all UK hotels, guesthouses, bed and breakfasts, and pubs/inns/restaurants with rooms.
Organised by the Considerate Hoteliers' Association (CHA), the awards celebrate the best in environmental, sustainable and socially responsible performance.
CHA director and secretary John Firrell said that a great example of an outstanding green marketing initiative was the 500,000 honey bees which were installed in beehives on the roof by a former CHA award winner, the Lancaster London hotel (pictured).
The other award categories include: Considerate Hotel of the Year, Considerate Small Accommodation Provider of the Year, Considerate Sustainable Food Award, Considerate Green Team of the Year and Considerate Green Champion of the Year.
"The CHA Awards are there for the taking and if the industry response and coverage of the 2009/10 Awards received are anything to go by, we can look forward to many more inspirational stories that have made a difference," Firrell said.
For further details of the awards - to be presented at a gala lunch at London's Savoy hotel on 23 May 2011 - visit www.consideratehotelieres.com.
