Inverlochy Castle boss denies sales negotiations with Von Essen

The managing director of Inverlochy Castle today denied that the legendary hotel was to be sold to the Von Essen group.

Norbert Lieder said he was not in negotiations with Von Essen or anyone else to sell the 17-bedroom property, which has a Michelin-starred restaurant and is situated in the foothills of Ben Nevis, near Fort William.

The denial follows an assertion from Andrew Davis, chairman of Von Essen, that he was keen to continue to grow the company and, in particular, was looking to buy Inverlochy Castle.

Last year, Von Essen expanded its portfolio of 31 hotels by two with the opening of the company's first new-build property in London, Hotel Verta, and the acquisition of Llangoed Hall in Brecon, Powys, Wales.
