Giuliano Lotto and Waney brothers to launch new restaurant in Mayfair

Veteran restaurateur Giuliano Lotto, a former director of A-Z Restaurants, is to launch a second London restaurant this year in partnership with Peter and Arjun Waney, co-founders of Zuma and La Petit Maison.

The team have taken over the site of Mulligan's of Mayfair, formerly part of Balls Brothers, which collapsed into administration last year. They will relaunch it as high-end Italian restaurant Aurelia in July following a three-month refurbishment.

The news comes after they acquired a former NatWest site on North Audley Street in January, which will relaunch as high-end Italian Banca in September.

Named after the old Roman Road, Via Aurelia, the new restaurant will offer a regional Mediterranean menu overseen by Roka executive chef Nic Watt.

Lotto told Caterersearch Aurelia's concept would be similar to Banca and La Petite Maison serving regional Mediterranean food to share. "Via Aurelia was the old Roman coastal road to Spain and the menu at Aurelia will feature influences from areas including Tuscany, Liguria, Provence, Languedoc and Catalonia," he said.
